Cabbage & Curtainrail are a Cumbrian fabric design company, based in Great Corby just outside Carlisle, who create innovative, geometric formalised designs, inspired by the natural world.
Reflecting their ‘nature-inspired’ style, designs are printed on soft natural linens and printed using conventional and modern printing methods.
“Can you see the Cow?” is a question Michaela never tires of overhearing when she shows her textiles and furnishings at interior design shows. At first glimpse, her signature design – “Cumberland Cow” – is a leaf like geometric print. Some people see butterflies, others helicopter seeds or mosiac tiles. But look closer (and most viewers need to be prompted) and you’ll spot cows’ heads arranged in groups of four, like petals around a flower.
If you are local, you can pop into their showroom (located within the Chris Davidson Carpets building, English Damside, Carlisle) to see a fine display of their fabrics and cushions. Please visit their website to order swatches and find the list of UK stockists.
