About two years ago I wrote a review of a previous 2xCD package of Frank Sinatra LPs and concluded by writing, “Ol’ Blue Eyes never fails to please.”

While seventies fashion may well be something we’d prefer to forget, music from decade is a different matter altogether. Although derided by some as a decade of cheesy tunes and here-today-gone-tomorrow pop stars, look more closely and there’s plenty to be proud of.

Think for a moment what’s gone missing from our High Streets in recent years.

Kiki Dee isn’t the only British artist to be signed to Detroit’s Motown Records Company, but I’ll bet you hers is the only name you’d recognise if you saw of list of British signees.
